Again, Faculty of Psychology University of Airlangga has proved itself and established a cooperation with a university in ASEAN. Delegates from Faculty of Psychology have visited School of Applied Psychology, Social Work and Policy, Universiti Utara Malaysia in Sintok, Kedah, Malaysia, last Tuesday, 6 September 2016. The delegates was consisted with the Dean of Faculty of Psychology, Dr. Nurul Hartini, M. Kes., Psikolog, Margaretha, S.Psi, P.G.Dip.Psych.,M.Sc, Dr. Dewi Retno Suminar , M.Si., Psikolog, and Dr. Nur Ainy Fardana N., M.Si., Psikolog. The visit was received with utmost excitement and then they were accompanied to the Anjungan Tamu. Anjungan Tamu is a building made especially for welcoming guests of UUM, it has purpose to elucidate university branding which is the Green Campus.
The visit was aimed to discuss possibilities of having cooperation between the two universities. The Dean of School of Applied Psychology, Social Work and Policy, Universiti Utara Malaysia, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Noor Azniza Ishak led the meeting together with other delegates from Universiti Utara Malaysia and delegates from Universitas Airlangga. In the end, both parties reached an agreement to make cooperation on academic mobility programs. The first point commitment is the collaboration on Outbound-Inbond program, in which each party will send 10 students for one semester in the upcoming semester. Both parties agreed on cost-sharing for each exchange students, which means everyone who participate on the exchange program won’t have to pay anything to the exchanged University, but they need to prepare for the living cost. Each student only need to pay the tuition fee in their respective university like usual.
In addition, the delegates from Universiti Utara Malaysia acknowledged that the education in the faculty of Psychology University of Airlangga is more advanced, and so they asked for a visiting professor from University of Airlangga to teach for at least a semester. It should be noted that UUM is established in the Counselling and Social Work; however, they have asked for cooperation from Faculty of Psychology Universitas Airlangga on developing their psychology program, particularly on teaching and curriculum for Undergraduate study of Psychology.
UUM also plan to develop a Double Degree program with university of Airlangga in the undergraduate level. They planned to support their students for experiencing learning in University of Airlangga for several years. The last point of discussion on was a plan of cooperation in research, journal publication, book writing, and etc.
UUM is located in Kedah, that is known as an affordable place to live and it provides free in-campus accommodation for students (with capacity for more than 1500 students).
