2+2 articulation program in Psychology is the result of cooperation between Unair and QUT in developing Double Degree program of Bachelor in Psychology. By this program, a student will study two years (4th semester) at the Universitas Airlangga and two years in QUT. After finishing this program, students will hold 2 degress, Sarjana Psikologi from Unair and Bachelor of Behavioural Science (Psychology) from QUT.
On the roadshow to SMU Muhamadiyah 2 Surabaya, the participants are students in 3rd grade. Mrs. Sharyn was happy when she looks the participants. “They are so excited to listen the explanation from me about QUT”. Mrs. Sharyn has hopes that a few years later, there would be some teenager come to her and said, “Hi Mrs. Sharyn, my name is blablabla, I saw you first time when you came to my school for road show three years ago in Surabaya”.
If we take the 2+2 program, we will get many advantages and facilities from QUT and UNAIR. For example, of course we will obtaian two academic degrees in four years. And students would have greater opportunity to explore the possibilities of career in psychology or behavior related diciplines.
Studies in School of psychology and counseling QUT focus on improving public health, both locally and globally. At QUT, student would have access to learn in clinics, which is located on campus. This means that study in QUT offers a variety of training by an accredited mental health professionals.
With regard to international atmosphre in QUT, about 7000 (roughly 18 %) of their 25000 students in QUT are international students that originated from various country in world. Given that situation, QUT developed programs that can accommodate those foreign students. One of the facility is a program that can help international students adapt and meet the requirements of studying in QUT is a comprehensive language skills in oral and writing.
QUT certainly have teaching aids with international standard. One of the interesting facilities is “The Cube”. The cube is one of the world’s largest pad, or a mean for digital learning and display which provide interactive study experience facilitated with hi-tech.
QUT wishes to prepare students to be able to contribute in the real world. We must realize that in order to take part in the community, we require more then just theories and knowledge. We need soft skills, to be able to communicate, to lead, to work in groups and as Jason said, be “people” people. Thus, QUT designed curriculum that includes soft skill developments, and conducts activities that gives students opportunities to enhance their soft skills such as holding conferences, workshops and trainings. The focus of curriculum is practical skill, not focus on theory like on the text books (Fatih-Fac Amb.).
