Why are student Turnitin accounts temporary?
Universitas Airlangga has a limited quota for student Turnitin licenses, making it impossible to register all students permanently in the system database. Therefore, a rotational access system is implemented so that students can use Turnitin as needed.
Why am I unable to access the Google Form?
The Google Form for Turnitin account creation is only active during specific windows (such as final defense/thesis submission periods) or upon direct request from course coordinators or faculty advisors for specific assignments.
Am I required to use my institutional UNAIR email address?
Yes. This is mandatory for account security and to verify that the applicant is an active student of the Faculty of Psychology, Universitas Airlangga.
How long does it take to receive a Turnitin notification after submitting the Google Form?
Account setup notifications are sent out no later than the next business day (D+1) following your form submission.
My previous Turnitin account for course assignments was deleted by the administrator. Do I need to re-register to check my undergraduate thesis, master’s thesis, or doctoral dissertation?
Yes, you must submit a new request via the Google Form to reactivate your account for final project verification.
How much time do I have to perform the similarity check on my final manuscript?
The standard access window for final manuscript evaluation is 3 days.

Is there a specific format required for document uploads?
- For undergraduate theses, master’s theses, doctoral dissertations, and course assignments: .docx
- For Intellectual Property Rights (HKI) verification: .docx or .pdf
Is there a limit to how many files I can upload to my account?
You can only upload one file per active assignment slot. However, you can continuously overwrite and recheck your document in that slot until your temporary account access expires.
What sections of the manuscript should be included in the upload?
For final projects (theses/dissertations), upload only from the Abstract through to the References/Bibliography. Including appendices is optional. There are no specific section restrictions for HKI documents.
Why is my similarity report taking a long time to generate?
- Large File Size: While the maximum allowable size is 100 MB, larger files naturally require more system processing time.
- 24-Hour Rate Limits: While you can re-upload files multiple times, Turnitin only generates a maximum of 3 similarity reports within a rolling 24-hour window.
Example Scenario: > On Monday, a student uploads their document at 02:08 AM (1st report), 03:45 PM (2nd report), and 08:56 PM (3rd report). If they upload a revised version at 11:59 PM that same night, the system will hold the file and only release the 4th similarity report at 11:59 PM on Tuesday (exactly 24 hours after the 3rd generation limit reset).
Does the administrator archive my similarity reports?
No. Students are solely responsible for saving their own Turnitin results. We highly recommend downloading your similarity report immediately after processing is complete.
How does Turnitin calculate the similarity percentage?
The system compares your text against an extensive global database, including news portals, public websites, institutional repositories, and academic journals. The final percentage reflects the cumulative match found across these sources.
What are the acceptable similarity thresholds for submissions?

Ensure that your reference section heading is clearly formatted as “Daftar Pustaka” or “Referensi”. The Turnitin algorithm recognizes these specific terms and will automatically exclude the subsequent bibliography text from the similarity index.
My account was deleted before I could download my final similarity report. What can I do?
